COUPLE COUNSELLING

Counselling involves working with couples, either together or on their own, when they are troubled about their relationship. I enable them to explore these difficulties in a private, safe and confidential environment. This form of therapy can help a couple to clarify their thoughts and feelings. They can then feel more able to make choices and move forward again.

WHY COUPLES COME FOR COUNSELLING?

This can often be due to the tensions experienced at important turning points in the life of the couple.

For example, approaching marriage, adjusting to pregnancy or the birth of a child, sexual difficulties, and problems with health or work. As a couple grow older, the death of a parent, problems with teenage children or the changes that retirement bring can all cause emotional confusion. Sometimes a couple just find it difficult to communicate. Exploring these issues with a professional counsellor can enable change.

For a couple considering separation or divorce, counselling can help them to cope with the emotional difficulties and develop the confidence neccessary to rebuild their lives.
